As pediatric dentists, we strive to provide comprehensive dental care for the pediatric patient. This includes preventive care (diagnostic, oral hygiene instructions, cleanings, fluoride treatments, and sealants), restorative care (fillings, crowns, and pulp therapy), minor surgical procedures (extractions and gum/gingival surgery), and emergency treatment (accidents/trauma, abscessed teeth, and infected gums).
We are equipped to administer nitrous oxide analgesia (laughing gas) to make your child’s experience as relaxing as possible and use local anesthetic when necessary for pain control. We also perform dental treatment under sedation and general anesthesia in either our office or the Hawthorn Surgery Center in Libertyville, Illinois where Drs. Herer and Patenio are on staff. Any patients requiring those services are treated at that center utilizing a pediatric anesthesiologist.
Our office meets or exceeds guidelines of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, OSHA, and HIPAA. Our digital radiographs have been certified by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency – Division of Nuclear Safety and were found to use significantly less radiation than traditional films. Our panoramic radiograph machine utilizes up to 80% less radiation and our intraoral radiograph machine uses up to 40% less radiation than traditional films still used in many offices today.
